A Review of Low Power Wide Area Technology in Licensed and Unlicensed Spectrum for IoT Use Cases

There are many platforms in licensed and license free spectrum that support LPWA (low power wide area) technology in the current markets. However, lack of standardization of the different platforms can be a challenge for an interoperable IoT environment. Therefore understanding the features of each technology platform is essential to be able to differentiate how the technology can be matched to a specific IoT application profile. This paper provides an analysis of LPWA underlying technology in licensed and unlicensed spectrum by means of literature review and comparative assessment of Sigfox, LoRa, NB-IoT and LTE-M. We review their technical aspect and discussed the pros and cons in terms of their technical and other deployment features. General IoT application requirements is also presented and linked to the deployment factors to give an insight of how different applications profiles is associated to the right technology platform, thus provide a simple guideline on how to match a specific application profile with the best fit connectivity features

A neuro-fuzzy approach for stator resistance estimation of induction motor = pendekatan neuro-fuzzy untuk meramal rintangan stator pada motor induksi

During the operation of induction motor, stator resistance changes incessantly with the temperature of the working machine. This situation may cause an error in rotor resistance estimation of the same magnitude and will produce an error between the actual and estimated motor torque which can leads to motor breakdown in worst cases. Therefore, this project will propose an approach to estimate the changes of induction motor stator resistance using neuro-fuzzy. Then, it will be compared with conventional method like P1 estimator to see the effectiveness. The behaviour of the induction machine will be analyzed when the stator resistance is changed. Based on the changes, a corrective procedure will be applied to ensure the stabilities of the induction motor. Generally, this project can be divided into three main parts which are design of induction motor, design of neuro-fuzzy and PT estimator, and corrective procedure for the induction machine. The Newcastle Drives Simulation Library will be used to design the induction motor model and MATLAB SIMULINK will be used to design the stator current observer. The neuro-fuzzy estimator will be designed based on Sugeno Method Fuzzy Inference System

PERAN KIAI DALAM PENGEMBANGAN PENDIDIKAN MODERN DI PONDOK PESANTREN

The purpose of this research is to determine the Role of Kiai in the Development of Modern Education in Islamic Boarding Schools. The method used is qualitative research with a literature review approach. The steps in this research include identifying literature sources, such as books, scientific journals, research papers, and other relevant documents related to the research topic. There are several steps that researchers must undertake in this study, including: a. Determining the research topic, b. Finding relevant literature sources, c. Selecting relevant and quality literature sources, d. Reading and evaluating the selected literature sources, e. Organizing data and extracting relevant information, f. Analyzing data, and g. Preparing a research report. The conclusion of this study is that the difference between Salafiyah and Khalafiyah Islamic boarding schools lies in their approach and view of Islamic teachings. Islamic boarding schools have many advantages and benefits for students in developing themselves. They provide a comprehensive and in-depth learning experience, as well as preparing students to live independently and contribute to society. The leadership style of Kiai has characteristics that can help develop Islamic boarding schools effectively. The transactional and transformational leadership applied by Kiai can bring Islamic boarding schools to a higher level of quality education. Additionally, effective leadership characteristics of Kiai can create a conducive environment for students to learn, for teachers to engage and grow, and for community support to help improve the quality of education provided by the Islamic boarding schools.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui Peran Kiai Dalam Pengembangan Pendidikan Modern Di Pondok Pesantren. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitataif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka. Adapun langkah-langkah dapam penelitian ini yaitu Sumber pustaka yang dimaksud dalam metode penelitian studi pustaka meliputi buku, jurnal ilmiah, makalah, laporan penelitian, dan dokumen-dokumen lain yang relevan dengan topik penelitian yang akan dilakukan. Ada beberapa langkah yang harus dilakukan peneliti dalam penelitian ini, antara lain: a. Menentukan topik penelitian, b. Mencari sumber pustaka yang relevan, c. Menyeleksi sumber pustaka yang relevan dan berkualitas, d. Membaca dan mengevaluasi sumber pustaka yang telah dipilih, e. Menyusun data dan mengekstrak informasi yang relevan, f. Analisis data, g. Menyusun laporan penelitian. Adapaun kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah perbedaan antara pesantren Salafiyah dan pesantren Khalafiyah terletak pada pendekatan dan pandangan mereka terhadap ajaran Islam, pendidikan pesantren memiliki banyak keunggulan dan manfaat bagi santri dalam mengembangkan diri. Pesantren memberikan pengalaman belajar yang komprehensif dan mendalam, serta mempersiapkan santri untuk hidup mandiri dan berkontribusi bagi masyarakatpola kepemimpinan Kiai memiliki karakteristik yang dapat membantu mengembangkan pesantren dengan baik. Kepemimpinan transaksional dan transformasional yang diterapkan oleh Kiai dapat membawa pesantren menjadi lembaga pendidikan yang lebih berkualitas. Selain itu, karakteristik kepemimpinan kiai yang efektif dapat menciptakan iklim yang kondusif bagi Santri untuk belajar, para ustadz terlibat dan bertumbuh, serta dukungan dari komunitas dapat membantu pesantren dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan yang diselenggarakan.&nbsp

Do Malaysian women directors create corporate value?

Women’s contribution towards corporate value has received remarkable attention from researchers worldwide.However, the findings are inconclusive. As for Malaysia, this topic received the attention of many and has become more relevant after the government announced the policy of having at least 30% women at the decision making level in the corporate sector.In line with the implementation of the revised Code on Corporate Governance, this study is carried out to ascertain whether some specific characteristics of women directors improve firm value, particularly in terms of market value (Tobin’s Q) and accounting performance (return on assets or ROA).Our findings reveal that women directors holding a university degree increase firms’ ROA.This implies that tertiary education is important at transforming women to become effective business leaders, positions that are dominated by men. Further, our results indicate that bigger firms experience higher Tobin’s Q while highly leveraged firms tend to have higher ROAs. Further studies may examine if the number of women on boards matters in enhancing firm value
